Most events can be attributed to normal episodes however there is a small area where an event may need further investigation possibly for a solution. I do not fully believe all 'paranormal events' are the result of spirits or similar but energy crossing over from a possible unknown source or natural presentation of the world we live in today. Many scientist call this 'Stone Tape Theory'. It is understood a wall or similar consisting of the right elements may absorb sounds and play them back where one may hear a banging, footsteps or other strange noises. It is my belief smells, visual or even physical events maybe a result of this phenomena. Like a battery this energy will dissipate over time, possibly many centuries thus being one theory why we don't see cavemen like apparitions or similar. For example many years back one may of seen a 'White Lady' walking the halls, for it then becoming a 'Grey Lady' to just a shadow. It is this foundation theory of mine that helps separate a more natural residual type energy event to something I call 'True Positive Occurrence or Communication (TPOC)'.  An abandoned hall nr Burnley TPOC (Experimental) I coined this acronym many years ago and stand by it today thus being a great tool to assist investigating the real paranormal events. A TPOC would comprise of a type of communication from an unknown source. For example, copycat noises / whistling or knocking. Plausible conversations via a digital device like Electronic Voice Phenomena or 'EVP' I would also consider some Poltergeist activities as a positive response. I also feel a persons energy maybe drained as it's being transferred to another source naturally. This maybe more natural than one thinks, for example if you place your hand next to a cold stone it will sap the warmer energy from your hand and some energy will be lost in the process / by proxy. Respect It is a developing theory that we must respect the past and it's people in your area as once they were there before you and maybe innocently be protective of that area or object. As a living race we should welcome them and give them the space / respect they earned when alive. They maybe a past member of your family just helping you along in life. Having a positive presence in your domain could keep any negative energy away seeking vulnerabilities.  Spooky reaction to the REM Pod! Filming style I have been interested in the paranormal for many years, I want you to understand I take this science with upmost respect, privacy and responsibility. Much of the filming will be raw and edited in a fashion to portray the best results of the site investigation. Investigations The initial work carried out involves an explore of the site, baseline test and informal presentation to gather a general consensus. This can help establish what type of paranormal energy (if any) is established at the location. Then a more in-depth investigation maybe carried out during the day and evening. Digital sensors / recording aids used maybe upgraded or used for longer periods.  Father and son team learning about a haunted location Possible paranormal event classificationThe Paranormal Scale As far as I can investigate I understand there is no scale to judge or value a site investigation based on paranormal events. This could be an industry first! Over the years of investigations I've attributed a scale (mainly in my head) to how haunted or paranormal a place maybe. There is no real science behind this scale apart from personal experience however I feel the industry could do with classifying paranormal events to help research and investigators understand what is to be expected. The suggested system: This may also aid paranormal tourist spots in placing a value of expectancy or strength based off recorded events. For example if a venue is rated at '5' this would state it's a highly likely you will experience paranormal events. Classification: I feel the value related to each classification should be only provided with reasonable means of investigation - a standard where more than one method of practice provides a 'True Positive Occurrence or Communication (TPOC **)'. The types of TPOC would comprise of copycat responses, knocks, words, sounds, or physical interaction both personal or by technical means. Repeated knocking, cat ball style response, EVP's are all valid values but not as an isolated occurrence. At this stage possession should not be considered as this may have far too many interferences either direct or by proxy. I highly suggest an independent investigation with similar results should be followed up by an industry respected investigator, morally or professionally to help confirm the sites potential.  Paranormal events captured in a hotel in Wales How the system might work: Taking all above into account a national record of the venue and it's classification could be provided to the public. It would be difficult to be definitive on results as events are quite personal to the investigator however more than one person should conduct the investigation as to rule out any false occurrences. This is an area I'm (Nodrog) looking in to with similar minded investigators to help fine tune the results. It should be accepted as time passes the results and said system will be better suited to it's aims and purpose. Classification: I would like to title the classification as the TPOC Scale. The scale starts at 0 and finishes at 5. Poltergeist* activity would be defined by physical interactions or objects moved by force. Honest personal unexplained harm, doors slamming, items thrown are all accepted. Random Orb or uncoherent poltergeist style knocking should not considered at this stage due to the risk of a false claim. What should be accepted? All standards must be recorded and witnessed by two or more people and classed as a positive response.. Table tipping, Ouija or similar is not accepted due to the direct human involvement.
SCALE
Validity As part of an ongoing effort to classify sites at this stage it is reasonable to expect paranormal investigators to self classify for initial or personal reasons. It would be expected in the near future for a more organised effort to be practised and recognised nationally. Notes: According to common English definition: *Poltergeist is known for is making "knocking" noises, so it will come as no surprise to learn that the word poltergeist translates literally from German as knocking spirit. The German verb poltern means "to knock, and "Geist" is the German word for "spirit." Another "Geist" descendant in English is "zeitgeist" ("the general intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of an era"). The English word ghost is also related; it descends from the same ancient root that led to "Geist." Although "ghost" has been used in English since before the 12th century, "poltergeist" is a relative newcomer, first appearing as an English word in the middle of the 19th century. TPOC Explained: ** True Positive Occurrence or Communication or TPOC is defined as in the word 'TRUE' being such an event not falsely assumed to be paranormal either by mistake or purpose. For example the suggested occurrence is more than likely not natural. An EVP in response to a question giving a clear understanding of the answer is acceptable. A vague or easily misunderstood response should be ignored. This will edit out false events and refine the work investigated on site. Positive is given in the sense that not only was it true evidence, the 'KEY' part of evidence is clearly understandable or obvious that the paranormal event was a direct form of communication.
