Transforming Cities Fund | Lea Road Railway Station - Preston Western Distributor
Plans for a new railway station at Cottam in Preston have taken a step forwards after county councillors approved the use of powers to acquire land and build an access road for the station. Work is already underway on detailed designs and a planning application for the Cottam Parkway railway station along with a new access road, and most of the funding needed was secured in March this year with the award of over £22m through the Transforming Cities Fund. - LCC

Ribblehead Viaduct Maintenance Programme
Opened in 1876 bridging the gap between Ribblehead and Dent on the exposed and windy Batty Moor. Work took place between now and February 2021, including: brickwork repairs. removal of vegetation and repairing the damage caused by plants and weeds.
HS2 Curzon Street Station
Curzon Street station will be the first brand new intercity terminus station built in Britain since the since the 19th century. Eventually, there will be 9 trains per hour direct in each direction from the station. Curzon Street station opened in 1837. HS2 unearthed its roundhouse during archaeological work preparing for the new high speed station.
